It it seems like forever and a day ago but at one point in my career, I worked for Jennifer and ex-husband Marc Anthony. After leaving my job at Glamour Magazine and 5yrs in Publishing, I needed to do some soul searching. I desired more and wanted to dive deeper into the world of entertainment. Celebrity culture was at an all time high and I waned in. A friend of mine took me to a Ricky Martin show at Radio City and it was there I came to realize that I wanted to work behind the scenes. A long time family friend was working for Marc’s Business Manager and I knew he was looking for someone to join his team. They wanted to hire by referral only; confidentiality being a top priority. I interviewed with Marc’s Manager and long story short I was hired.

For the first six months, I helped manage the office and various projects Marc was working on…an upcoming Greatest Hits album, concerts, photo shoots, recording sessions etc. I eventually, got to meet Marc at a recording studio. He welcomed me with open arms…..he called me over into the booth, placed a set of ear phones on my head and sang to me. Was this really happening? Was this real? Marc said “no one was allowed in the booth with me besides my wife”… my jaw dropped to the floor. A few hours later, Jennifer walked in…she was a beautiful as imagined, shy and sweet. I automatically fell in LOVE!

A few hours passed and Jenn began to warm up to me and before you know it we were all sitting on the couch laughing and getting to know each other. Marc and Jenn seemed like two High School kids in LOVE. As the night progressed, I walked them to their SUV and we exchanged goodbyes. I hauled a cab and when I got in, a  Marc Anthony song was playing on the radio!!!!! It was one of those moments when all the stars aligned. The next day, their assistant called to tell me they LOVED me and talked about me the whole car ride back to Long Island. Crazy!!!

Due to some staff changes, they were in need of a new assistant and asked if I would help out when they were in town, if I could work from their home and help manage their personal lives. What an honor! I jumped at the chance. During that time, we all become a family….the other assistants, driver, security, the housekeeper. We would call Jenn and Marc “Mama” and “Papa”….

I saw first hand the LOVE they shared, as Jenn writes in her new book True Love…their relationship was full of passion. They loved hard and fought hard but there was LOVE. As close as I was to to them, Jenn really did her best to keep issues within the marriage private. She really took care of so many people, she tried to project us….
